The Brooklyn Nets announced Saturday that their All-Star center and best player, Brook Lopez, will have surgery Jan. 4 to repair the fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

The injury has crippled the Nets already disastrous season even more and they have been in a tailspin ever since the news broke Dec. 21st.

They have since lost three-of-four games and look to be in complete disarray. The team is not responding to its coach and the best player is gone for the year.

Lopez fractured the same fifth metatarsal in December 2011 and had a bent screw replaced in it this past offseason as well.

Not good news once again for the Nets but that seems to be par for the course in the 2013-14 season in Brooklyn.
