Brook Lopez “expected” to play tonight in home opener

Updated: November 3, 2014

Brook Lopez is expected to play in the Brooklyn Nets home opener tonight against the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder.

Yes I said that correct Nets fans.  Brook Lopez WILL be playing tonight!

It has been a long three weeks holding our collective breathes since Lopez had someone step on his bad right foot causing a right midfoot sprain on Oct. 15.

Only bad thoughts came to mind for all of us when the news broke of another issue with his chronic right foot so seeing him take the court this soon after the setback is a great sign.

Lopez talked to reporters after practice on Sunday and seemed genuinely excited to be rejoining his team.

“I don’t think nervous, but anxious. Anxious is a good word.  I’ll probably try to sleep right until it’s time to leave for the game” Lopez said after going through a full practice with his team on Sunday.

“I’m excited to play tomorrow. I wish it was right now.  It’s like Christmas,” Lopez said.  ““I think I’m just going to have to come out and be mentally prepared, make sure I have the sets down, the defensive plays.”
